Lily Taylor
I am mostly a self taught artist. I have won awards at school and college for art and went onto study cartography at Aberdeen University.
Through cartography I learned about using pen and ink. My first illustrations were of birds for quarterly reports on behalf of an ornithologist working for the RSPB. I studied the birds first hand in “hides”.
Pastel is my favourite choice of medium and I have travelled to study with Margaret Evans (one of Scotland’s best known pastelists).
My favourite subject matter is animals and my business is in dog grooming so I feel I know my subjects well. I have been showing dogs for over 30 years and travelling the country as a judge in Championship Shows for over 20.
I travel to Africa frequently and photograph wildlife there, to reproduce in my art. In order to improve my techniques I have arranged to study under Fiona Haldane (another well known pastelist).
I have had work shown in the Milton Gallery near Crathes and Hennies Café at Fyvie where I have sold various paintings. I am a member of the Forecourt Art Group and the Dundee Artists Society.
I am currently being considered for membership in the Inverbervie Artists Society.
I am happy to take commissioned work for pets and animal portraits.
I have also undertaken portraiture commissions over the years.
