About

History

The Forecourt Art Group was founded over 50 years ago and takes it’s name from the previous Exhibition Site at the Langstane Kirk Forecourt. The site is now the Soul restaurant and bar. We are the longest running open air exhibitors in Aberdeen. The group is made up of both amateur and professional artists who come together annually to exhibit and sell their work.

In 2005, the group secured a new exhibition site at the St. Nicholas House Underpass on Broad Street when Aberdeen City Council came to our rescue. The exhibition site was refurbished by the City Council to provide a new open air art venue for the city and to help the Forecourt Art Group carry on the tradition. The group is a not-for profit organisation and makes a charitable donation each year. Currently we are donating to Community Link Children’s Charity. All other monies raised go back into the running costs of our exhibitions.

Exhibiting outside is not the easy route, but we have the fine planning down to an art, even if the weather in Aberdeen is not the best. The Forecourt Artists are a hardy bunch!!!
